Welcome To Seclusion.com
I was inspired to create this site after hearing about a man named Amos Wilson, known as The Pennslyvania Hermit. Amos abandoned society after his sister Elizabeth Harriot Wilson (see two related articles: "A faithful Narrative of Elzabeth Wilson" and "Victim of Seducation) was wrongfully accused and hanged and spent the final twenty years of his life living in a cave scribbling his instructions to Mankind as to "How we may be happy in a miserable world." It is such an amazing piece of writing that I felt compelled to post it online. The book is called, The Sweets of Solitude and everyone should read this book!
But, in addition to the writings of Amos, I've added to this site my own scribblings that have been inspired, or perhaps more appropriately, caused by this 'miserable world'. They are random outpourings, -- well, more like rants -- of the various thoughts and adventures I've experienced in my life, both good and bad, that I just needed to get out.
Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Unlike Amos, I offer no instructions for nothing. |

Instead of teaching reading, math and tiddlywinks, look what is the newest rage we are spending our hard earned tax dollars to teach our children in kindergarten:

Or as this site refers them, "your students". Are kindergartens really "students" or are they still considered what they really are: "toddlers"?

When we were young and we encountered a dog for the first time I am sure we were all guilty of uttering any number of the following lines: “Does he bite?”, “Is your dog friendly?”, “Is it a he or a she?”, etc. Today, I was approached by a little person who uttered something that took me by surprise. It amazed me that this question could emanate from the mind and mouth of a child. The more I thought about it, the more it angered me. But then again, what does not anger me these days right? Well, I will share with you what this little person said but before I do I need to set the stage.

Remember when “Blood Simple” rocked the film world? Where everyone stood up and took notice? Well, I guess not. No one noticed, hardly no one.

Remember the hub bub about Pacino & DeNiro finally getting together for some screen time in Heat? I found myself wondering when Crowe and Washington would find their time together as I sat this this inconsistent film and imagined Ridley was indeed toying with us and was savoring this moment.

Hi. My name is Ambrose and I’m dead. And as I can still communicate, I thought that this posed a unique opportunity to vent my recently deceased opinions.

I don’t know what to do with them infesting my house. They crawl, low down, to the ground from room to room. ...

What do I do when my back goes out and I am forced to lay in bed and avoid all strenuous activity such as reaching for a toothbrush or putting on socks?
Well, I read of course.

Why Steven, why? What was it you had to say?
The bigger question is why did I go to see it?

Who has time to sit around and write reviews all day? I certainly don't.
Here is an ongoing list of the books I have read between reading the books for which I will write a review.

Neil Peart's lyrics have touched and inspired me for nearly thirty years and he has recently answered an old wish of my for him to write a book.
He's written three actually and they do touch me, but they don't really inspire me.... yet.

I do not enjoy the medium that is television. I'd rather read a book, watch a movie, watch the grass grow, stare into space and let my mind wander joyfully wherever it wishes to roam..... you get the picture..
And this reality TV crazy the world is suffering through is maddening to me. I cannot believe people watch this stuff.
